Coaching.
Keeping the Effort Going
Well-intentioned starts sometimes fade for lack of input and accountability . It takes encouragement, prayer, honest discussions and accountability to keep outreach going. And that’s what we do the most. We like to serve as coaches who can help you keep the work of evangelism going. After the inspiring talks and after the evangelism training, you’ll need a coach to keep things on track.
Coaching means that we are available to talk and pray with the leaders and workers who are doing outreach and equipping in your church. Coaching may come in the form of personal conversations, phone calls or emails.
Here’s an example. Recently we suggested that a church create a video, doing on-the-street interviews by asking people their opinions about church, religion and Christianity. The video was to be used for a missions conference that focused on reaching this church’s “Jerusalem.” Though we couldn’t be there to do the video, we coached the leaders through the process of interviewing people — what to ask and how to approach them. The video was just a a small part of a larger strategy to help this church grow in outreach.
Coaching is a crucial part of keeping evangelism on track. Without it, the best intentions easily get set aside for the more immediate needs that arise within a church.
